Our Story

J.F. Schwarzlose Berlin is a German fragrance house founded in 1856 by Joachim Friedrich Schwarzlose, a musical instrument manufacturer, as a family pharmacy business. The brand was restored to the market in November 2012 with a collection of scents designed in conjunction with perfumer Veronique Nyberg.

Véronique Nyberg

Véronique Nyberg's love of plants, ignited by her botanist grandmother in the French Alps, led her to a doctorate in Organic Chemistry before a trainee position in Grasse as a raw material quality controller. She joined IFF's Dutch site as a chemist, eventually attending IFF's perfume school in Grasse and completing her training in Paris under renowned perfumer Dominique Ropion. Her approach draws on her passions for art and cooking, including unconventional pairings like sandalwood in lychee harmonies.
