“Acne Studios by Frederic Malle is a Floral Aldehyde fragrance for women and men”
The Quick Read
Respected, if divisive — a aldehydic, powdery composition with a fresh undertone. Voted best for spring and summer wear — and genuinely unisex.

Launched in 2024 by Suzy Le Helley for Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, Acne Studios is a composition that balances fresh aldehydes with powdery florals and warm woods. The fragrance opens with the brightness of mandarin and bergamot, which quickly gives way to the softness of peach and orange blossom. At its heart, it combines violet and rose with lily of the valley and jasmine, creating a harmonious floral bouquet. The base notes of musk, frankincense, sandalwood, vanilla, and heliotrope add depth and warmth, grounding the overall composition in a comforting embrace.

Application Tips
Acne Studios has a balanced projection and longevity. A single spray on pulse points is sufficient to capture the essence of its fresh aldehydic opening, which gradually evolves into a more powdery and woody base over time. It's best worn during cooler hours or in less humid conditions to allow its floral heart to fully bloom.

Founding perfumer · 14 fragrances

For the realm of perfume, the perfumer Suzy Le Helley crafts a fragrance of contrasts for Acne Studios by Frédéric Malle: an aldehydic introduction followed by a gourmand heart. Suzy draws inspiration from the diversity of plants, scents and flavours that she discovers in her daily life and on her travels, where she frequently meets producers of natural raw materials. Passionate about botany since childhood, she has also developed a taste for synthesis, and synthetic materials, which expands the palette and creative output of perfumers. Le Helley likes short, precise, easy-to-read formulas, where each ingredient is carefully administered to deliver a clear message. “A perfume must smell like themessage it is sending, with technicalmastery always at the service of theaesthetic and the emotion”
