Launched in 2024 by Penhaligon's, AIUla is a fragrance that weaves together warm spices and sweet fruity notes with an aromatic complexity. Perfumer Fanny Bal has crafted a composition where Guatemalan cardamom and black pepper create a fresh spicy opening that gradually gives way to the rich warmth of frankincense and tobacco. The heart introduces plum, adding a touch of sweetness, while saffron and turmeric add depth and character. Vanilla and amber provide a soft yet enduring base, rounding out this unisex scent with a comforting embrace.

Application Tips
AIUla's spicy and aromatic notes project well initially, but they settle into a more intimate warmth over time. One to two sprays are sufficient for daytime wear, allowing the vanilla and amber base to bloom gradually throughout the day. Avoid heavy application in warmer weather as it can read too warm.

Fanny Bal is a force of nature. As Dominique Ropion’s apprentice, she has access to the finest raw materials in the industry and some of its best-kept secrets; and yet, she is constantly surprising her seniors, first at ISIPCA, then at IFF, with her own independent initiatives and rigorous experimentation, both testaments to her flourishing talent. She has shown everyone, including Frédéric Malle, that she is a young perfumer to be reckoned with. Dominique Ropion has said of his pupil that, “curious, tenacious and bold” in both her approach to perfume and as a person, Fanny Bal possesses “all the best qualities to become a great perfumer”.
