Launched in 1981 by Chanel and crafted by Jacques Polge, Antaeus is a Woody Chypre fragrance that has become a cult classic among enthusiasts. As Chanel's second men’s fragrance after Pour Monsieur (1955), it stands out as a benchmark 'powerhouse' leather chypre built on castoreum, patchouli, labdanum, and honey. The vintage batches from before the 2000s are particularly prized for their richer and more animalic qualities compared to the current formula, which has been adjusted under IFRA guidelines.
