The Story

Aqua Allegoria Lavande Velours by Guerlain was launched in 1999 and is a harmonious blend of lavender and violet, with refined notes of iris, sandalwood, and vanilla. Created by Jean-Paul Guerlain and Mathilde Laurent, this fragrance captures the essence of a French garden with its powdery and floral accords. The interplay between the fresh aromatic top note of lavender and the soft, velvety heart of violet creates an elegant balance, while the woody base notes ground it in warmth and comfort.

Application Tips

Apply this fragrance in light layers — it opens with a bright aromatic note that fades quickly, leaving the powdery and woody base to linger. It’s best for daytime wear when you want a subtle yet elegant scent.

Jean-Paul Guerlain portrait
I am the last Guerlain to make perfume. After me, the house continues — but the family chapter closes.

Jean-Paul Guerlain is the fourth and final generation of Guerlain family perfumers, a lineage that spans nearly two centuries of French fragrance history. Taking the creative helm of the house in 1955, he continued the family's tradition of creating deeply personal, emotionally rich fragrances. His masterpieces — Habit Rouge, Vétiver, Samsara, and Héritage — are cornerstones of the perfume canon. Jean-Paul brought a more modern, sometimes daring sensibility to the Guerlain tradition, while always maintaining the house's legendary commitment to the finest raw materials.
