Gérard Anthony, born in 1944, discovered his passion for perfume at fourteen while working a summer job in Grasse, captivated by the scent of jasmine in the morning air. At seventeen he became a lab technician at Lautier, learning raw materials he came to call his "friends and allies," and in 1974 won the Young Perfumer prize from the Société Technique des Parfumeurs. He created Azzaro pour Homme in 1978 while at Naarden, and over twenty years at Firmenich created fragrances including Paco Rabanne's XS pour Homme (1993), building a close professional relationship with Jean-Paul Guerlain. He continues today as part of the creative team at Jean Niel.
