Launched in 2004, Cinéma by Yves Saint Laurent was created by the renowned perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The fragrance opens with bright clementine and cyclamen, giving way to a heart of jasmine, peony, and amaryllis before settling into a warm base of vanilla, amber, benzoin, and white musk. Cinéma’s 2004 ad campaign, directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino and starring model Michelle Alves surrounded by five men, is remembered as one of the last grand, glamorous YSL perfume campaigns during the Stefano Pilati creative-direction era. Often described as marking the end of an era of lavish, high-fashion perfume advertising for YSL in the 2000s, Cinéma itself remains a lasting blend of floral and vanilla sweetness.

Apply Cinéma to your pulse points for a lasting warmth. The fragrance's base notes take about an hour to fully bloom, so plan accordingly. It works well throughout the day but is particularly evocative in the evening.
