The Story

Launched in 1927 by Guerlain, Djedi is a Woody Chypre fragrance crafted by Jacques Guerlain and inspired by Egyptian mythology. The composition opens with the rich warmth of rose and civet, leading to an earthy heart of patchouli and oak moss, before settling into a base of vetiver, musk, and leather. This blend creates a luxurious and mysterious aura that is both lasting and evocative.

Application Tips

Apply Djedi sparingly to let its rich base notes bloom over time. The earthy and animalic accords are best experienced close to the skin rather than diffused widely in a room, making it ideal for an evening out or a special occasion.

Jacques Guerlain portrait
When I created Shalimar, I was thinking of the great love stories — of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.

Jacques Guerlain is one of the greatest perfumers who ever lived — the man who gave the world Shalimar, Mitsouko, L'Heure Bleue, and Vol de Nuit. As the third-generation perfumer of the House of Guerlain, he elevated the family craft into high art. Working in the legendary Guerlain laboratory on the Champs-Élysées, he drew inspiration from love, literature, and travel to create fragrances of unprecedented emotional depth. Shalimar, inspired by the gardens of the Taj Mahal and his love affair with a woman whose identity remains mysterious, is perhaps the most celebrated perfume in history.
