Respected, if divisive — a aromatic, warm spicy composition with a herbal undertone. Voted best for year-round wear — and genuinely unisex.

Launched in 2021 by Guerlain, Épices Volées is a Woody Chypre fragrance for both women and men, crafted by the renowned Jean-Paul Guerlain. This composition opens with a burst of aromatic coriander and artemisia, followed by the freshness of lemon and bergamot. The heart introduces sage and cardamom, while clove adds warmth. As it settles, Bulgarian rose, patchouli, sandalwood, benzoin, and labdanum create an enveloping, spicy-woody base that is both comforting and intriguing.

Application Tips
Apply Épices Volées with two sprays — it blooms quickly but maintains its warmth throughout the day. The aromatic top notes fade within an hour, so reapply for a sustained effect. It reads better close to skin than in the air.
Jean-Paul Guerlain
Founding perfumer · 89 fragrances · b. 1937 · French
“I am the last Guerlain to make perfume. After me, the house continues — but the family chapter closes.”
Jean-Paul Guerlain is the fourth and final generation of Guerlain family perfumers, a lineage that spans nearly two centuries of French fragrance history. Taking the creative helm of the house in 1955, he continued the family's tradition of creating deeply personal, emotionally rich fragrances. His masterpieces — Habit Rouge, Vétiver, Samsara, and Héritage — are cornerstones of the perfume canon. Jean-Paul brought a more modern, sometimes daring sensibility to the Guerlain tradition, while always maintaining the house's legendary commitment to the finest raw materials.

The story behind the bottle.
The first sip of a perfectly brewed chai tea, where the initial burst of citrus gives way to the complexity of spices and the smoothness of woodsy notes.
