Launched in 2021, Karst by Aesop is a fragrance that combines fresh aromatic notes with woody undertones, crafted by perfumer Barnabe Fillion. The scent opens with the sharp freshness of juniper and bergamot, followed by pink pepper and rosemary, which add a spicy complexity to the composition. Vetiver, sandalwood, and cedar form the earthy base that grounds the entire fragrance, creating an intriguing contrast between its bright top notes and deep, woody warmth.

Application Tips
Apply two sprays to your pulse points for a balanced experience. The fresh top notes will last about an hour before giving way to the deeper, more woody base notes. This fragrance is best suited for daytime wear when its aromatic freshness can shine.

Founding perfumer · 14 fragrances

Barnabé Fillion trained in photography before pursuing a thesis on synesthesia and studying naturopathy, phytotherapy, and aromatherapy. He worked as Aesop's in-house perfumer for a decade, creating all of the brand's fragrances and its first candles, including the reimagined Marrakech Intense Eau de Toilette. His 'Biography' series with artist Anicka Yi reconstructed the imagined scent-personalities of historical figures, and he later founded Arpa, a multi-platform project combining scent, music, and architecture.
