Launched in 2016 by Issey Miyake and created by perfumers Dominique Ropion and Claire Liégent, L'Eau d'Issey Pure is a Floral Aquatic fragrance that builds upon the original's purity with a more sensual twist. The composition opens with Sea Notes, evoking the freshness of water on skin, while a floral heart of lily, jasmine, orange blossom, and damask rose adds warmth and sweetness. The base notes of ambergris and cashmere wood provide an animalic depth that transforms this fragrance into something both familiar and alluring.

Claire Liégent was born in the Champagne region and grew up in her father's restaurant, developing an early sensitivity to scent. She trained at ISIPCA from 2007 and apprenticed at Symrise, then worked at IFF and IFF-LMR in Grasse before moving to Takasago, where she has created fragrances for Giorgio Armani, Lancôme, and Yves Saint Laurent, including YSL Y. In 2012 she co-founded the Parisian niche boutique Nose.
