When Tom Ford released Lost Cherry in 2018, it arrived with the provocation that had become the brand's signature: a name loaded with innuendo, a composition dripping with sweetness, and a price point — over three hundred dollars — that positioned it firmly in the luxury indulgence category. But beneath the marketing theatre, perfumers Louise Turner and Givaudan had created something that genuinely stood apart in the crowded gourmand-fruity landscape. Lost Cherry was built around a single, almost childishly simple idea — the smell of dark cherry — and then complicated it with enough smoke, spice, and bitterness to transform a fruit note into something unsettling and adult.

Its significance lies less in its originality — cherry had appeared in fragrances before — than in its intensity of focus.
