The Story

Launched in 1950 and crafted by the renowned perfumer Armand Petitjean, Magie by Lancôme is an Oriental Floral fragrance that embodies classic elegance. The composition begins with a powdery and white floral opening, evoking the softness of freshly laundered linens. This gives way to a heart of violet and musky notes, creating a delicate contrast between sweetness and warmth. The base layers in amber and animalic accords, grounding the scent with a subtle depth that feels both lasting and intimate.

Application Tips

Magie is best applied in light sprays to the pulse points. The fragrance evolves over time, with its powdery notes fading into the more pronounced base accords after about two hours. It's ideal for daytime wear when you want a scent that feels both elegant and understated.

Armand Petitjean · Portrait

Armand Petitjean, born May 20, 1884, into a family of distillers, was initiated into perfumery by François Coty, for whom he worked before founding Lancôme with Guillaume d'Ornano in 1935, presenting five inaugural fragrances at that year's Brussels Universal Expo. Passionate about roses, he made the flower Lancôme's signature ingredient from 1935, later launching Magie and Trésor in the early 1950s. Lancôme joined L'Oréal in 1964, and Petitjean died in 1969.
