Launched in 2014 by Aesop, Marrakech Intense Parfum is a fragrance that captures the warmth and complexity of its namesake city. Created by perfumer Barnabe Fillion, it opens with aromatic and citrus notes that give way to a warm spicy heart of cardamom and rose, anchored by woody and powdery undertones. This composition is neither overly sweet nor heavy, striking a balance between the vibrancy of spices and the depth of woods.

Barnabé Fillion trained in photography before pursuing a thesis on synesthesia and studying naturopathy, phytotherapy, and aromatherapy. He worked as Aesop's in-house perfumer for a decade, creating all of the brand's fragrances and its first candles, including the reimagined Marrakech Intense Eau de Toilette. His 'Biography' series with artist Anicka Yi reconstructed the imagined scent-personalities of historical figures, and he later founded Arpa, a multi-platform project combining scent, music, and architecture.
