Launched in 2016, Matière Noire by Louis Vuitton is an Oriental Woody fragrance crafted by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The composition opens with a burst of blackcurrant syrup and watery notes, creating a fresh yet unexpected contrast to the rich rose at its core. As it develops, cyclamen and narcissus add soft floral nuances, while jasmine sambac introduces a touch of sweetness. At the heart of Matière Noire lies oud, which brings depth and warmth, anchored by benzoin, incense, and patchouli for an earthy finish.

Application Tips
Apply Matière Noire sparingly — the blackcurrant syrup top note is vibrant but fleeting. The warm base notes emerge after an hour, so give it time to develop on your skin before layering.
