The Story

Launched in 2010 by Byredo, Palermo is a composition that captures the essence of a vibrant Sicilian city through its fresh and aromatic notes. Perfumer Ben Gorham crafted this fragrance with a bright citrus opening that includes bergamot and petitgrain, which evoke the sun-drenched streets of Palermo. The heart introduces rose, adding a touch of floral warmth, while ambrette (musk mallow) and musk create a subtle, grounding base. This blend encapsulates the freshness of an Italian morning with its crispness and warmth.

Application Tips

Palermo's top notes are particularly lively and will fade within an hour. To ensure that the warm base notes linger longer, apply to pulse points like your wrists and neck for a more sustained experience.

Ben Gorham portrait

Ben Gorham, a Swede born to an Indian mother and Canadian father, grew up between Toronto, New York, and Stockholm, and pursued professional basketball before a visa setback ended that path. He turned to art school in Stockholm, where a meeting with French perfumer Pierre Wulff drew him toward fragrance, and he founded Byredo in 2006, launching its first collection — Green, Chembur, Pulp, Rose Noir, and Gypsy Water — that same year. He remains a shareholder and chief creative officer following Puig's acquisition of the brand.
