The Story

Ben Gorham, the perfumer behind Byredo’s Rodeo, captures the essence of an event that is both brutal and beautiful. Launched in 2016, this fragrance opens with a bold leather note, reminiscent of the crackling sound of an old saddle, followed by the softness of suede and the subtle sweetness of violet. The base notes of vetiver and black amber add depth and warmth, creating a composition that is both fierce and captivating.

Application Tips

Apply Rodeo to pulse points for a warm, enveloping effect. The leather note is strong but settles into a rich musky warmth over time, so it’s best to let it develop gradually on your skin rather than layering heavily.

Ben Gorham portrait

Ben Gorham, a Swede born to an Indian mother and Canadian father, grew up between Toronto, New York, and Stockholm, and pursued professional basketball before a visa setback ended that path. He turned to art school in Stockholm, where a meeting with French perfumer Pierre Wulff drew him toward fragrance, and he founded Byredo in 2006, launching its first collection — Green, Chembur, Pulp, Rose Noir, and Gypsy Water — that same year. He remains a shareholder and chief creative officer following Puig's acquisition of the brand.
