Launched in 2018 by Dior, Sauvage Eau de Parfum is an Oriental Fougere fragrance created by perfumer François Demachy. The composition opens with a bright and zesty bergamot, punctuated by the spicy kick of Sichuan pepper and star anise. Lavender adds a herbal touch, while nutmeg brings warmth. The base notes of ambroxan and vanilla create a suave, enveloping finish that is both mysterious and sensual.
Sauvage has become one of the best-selling fragrances globally, reportedly selling a bottle every three seconds at its peak. This unprecedented success was partly due to Dior's controversial marketing strategy featuring Johnny Depp, which drew attention despite legal disputes with Amber Heard. In 2019, Dior faced accusations of cultural appropriation in a Sauvage campaign video, leading to an apology and the removal of the content.
