Soir de Lune by Sisley was launched in 2006 and is composed by Dominique Ropion, widely regarded as an 'underrated masterpiece' among perfume enthusiasts. This Chypre Floral fragrance opens with the freshness of citrus and spicy notes like coriander and pepper oil, which give way to a heart of floral accords such as rose, mimosa, iris, jasmine, and lily-of-the-valley. The base notes of oakmoss, patchouli, musk, and sandalwood create an earthy and mossy warmth that anchors the composition. Despite Sisley's low profile in fragrance circles, Soir de Lune is often compared to the serious chypre constructions found in collections like Frédéric Malle or Chanel Les Exclusifs.

Application Tips
Apply Soir de Lune lightly — its base notes take time to develop and can be overwhelming in excess. Two sprays are usually enough for the warm, mossy base to unfold gradually throughout the evening.

Dominique Ropion is a daring perfectionist, a true inventor. The risks he takes are invariably accompanied by a relentless pursuit of exact olfactory balance and flawless composition. His perfumes are like great architectural feats: in the same way that a bridge, whose seemingly miraculous suspension of weight is in fact a harnessing of counteracting forces, Dominique often balances excessive doses of powerful ingredients with meticulously-measured, subtler accords, until the composition holds up on its own. A good perfume, he likes to say, must always appear obvious.
