Launched in 2018 by Dior, The Cachemire is a creation by perfumer François Demachy that marries the freshness of citrus and green notes with the warmth of woody and musky accords. The composition opens with petitgrain, bergamot, lemon, and bitter orange, providing an immediate sense of crispness and brightness. As it evolves, hedione, honeysuckle, magnolia, black currant, rose, and mate offer a floral heart that remains delicate yet vibrant. The base notes of iso e super, musk, smoke, and orris create a warm, enveloping finish that feels like the soft embrace of a cashmere shawl.

François Demachy is the in-house perfumer-creator at Christian Dior, a title that places him among the most influential noses in the world. Born in Cannes and raised in Grasse — the historic capital of perfumery — he carries the craft in his blood. Before joining Dior in 2006, he spent two decades at Chanel. At Dior, Demachy has reimagined the house's olfactory heritage while pushing it forward, creating Sauvage (now the world's best-selling men's fragrance), Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, and the prestigious La Collection Privée series.
