Launched in 2024 by Aesop, Virēre is a Woody Aromatic fragrance crafted by perfumer Barnabe Fillion. The composition opens with the bright zest of bergamot and petitgrain, giving way to the fresh, green complexity of galbanum and green tea. Pink pepper introduces a subtle spiciness, while mate adds depth and warmth. The base notes of hay and cedar provide a grounding earthiness that ties the entire composition together.

Barnabé Fillion trained in photography before pursuing a thesis on synesthesia and studying naturopathy, phytotherapy, and aromatherapy. He worked as Aesop's in-house perfumer for a decade, creating all of the brand's fragrances and its first candles, including the reimagined Marrakech Intense Eau de Toilette. His 'Biography' series with artist Anicka Yi reconstructed the imagined scent-personalities of historical figures, and he later founded Arpa, a multi-platform project combining scent, music, and architecture.
