Launched in 2021 by Yves Saint Laurent, Y Le Parfum is an Oriental Fougère fragrance created by Dominique Ropion and Claire Liégent. Praised for its liftd performance and a more sophisticated twist on the Y DNA, this composition opens with aldehydes and grapefruit, creating a fresh spicy and aromatic contrast before settling into a heart of lavender, sage, and geranium. The base notes of tonka bean, cedar, olibanum, and patchouli add warmth and depth.
The original 2021 edition was discontinued relatively quickly and is now sought after at inflated resale prices, before being succeeded by a reformulated 2025 edition.

Application Tips
One spritz is sufficient — the aldehydic opening is bright but fades within two hours. The tonka bean and woody base notes carry through the day, making it perfect for daytime wear.

Claire Liégent was born in the Champagne region and grew up in her father's restaurant, developing an early sensitivity to scent. She trained at ISIPCA from 2007 and apprenticed at Symrise, then worked at IFF and IFF-LMR in Grasse before moving to Takasago, where she has created fragrances for Giorgio Armani, Lancôme, and Yves Saint Laurent, including YSL Y. In 2012 she co-founded the Parisian niche boutique Nose.
