Balleydier

From Provence's maquis to Chennai's jasmine fields

Grégoire Balleydier is a Parisian perfumer whose sensibility was shaped by childhood summers in Northern Provence, where sun-drenched landscapes and wild maquis first awakened his interest in scent.

Grégoire's story

The story

He studied Chemistry at the University of Versailles before entering the École Supérieure du Parfum in 2013, then joined Argeville near Grasse as a junior technical perfumer before training at dsm-firmenich in Paris under Master Perfumer Nathalie Lorson, later refining his craft in London with Martin Koh and in New York with Frank Voelkl. A months-long internship in Chennai, India in 2017 exposed him to fields of jasmine and tuberose, and later travels to Madagascar deepened his connection to the farmers who cultivate raw materials, an experience he says changed how he approaches every formula.
