Mary Dunhill

The Artist

Mary Dunhill (1904–1966), daughter of Alfred Dunhill Sr., originally trained as a hairdresser before joining the family business. In 1926 she founded her own company, Mary Dunhill Ltd, producing perfumes, compacts, and cosmetic accessories, and went on to become managing director and president of the Dunhill company. She created the Dunhill for Men fragrance (1934), along with Amulet (1938), Bewitching (1941), White Hyacinth (1941), and Escape (1943), and later authored the memoir "Our Family Business" (2001).
