Paolo Terenzi was born into a family that had worked in artistic goods for three generations — his grandfather an artisan candlemaker, his father Evelino introducing scented candles to the business in 1968.
After a bohemian youth spent playing guitar and traveling, he took up perfume-making at 25, learning directly from his grandfather Guglielmo. Alongside his sister Tiziana, he built the Tiziana Terenzi brand, creating fragrances including Kirke, Laudano Nero, and Cassiopea.
