From Lush's head writer to novelist-perfumer

Sarah McCartney bought her first bottle of Diorella at 16, sparking a lifelong interest in scent, though her path to perfumery ran through fourteen years as head writer for Lush, where she wrote fragrance descriptions and educated herself in essential oils and herbalism.

Sarah's story

The story

After leaving Lush, she set out to write a novel about a problem-solving perfumer — and ended up creating the fragrances described in the book, founding her own brand, 4160 Tuesdays. Entirely self-taught, she began blending essential oils during her time at Lush and continued to refine her craft independently.
