Yves Tanguy

The Artist

Yves Tanguy worked for eight years at Chanel in Grasse before moving to America to work for Estée Lauder, including its Aramis line, then joined Mane as perfumer-creator in 1979. One of the first perfumers to use Calone for iodized, marine notes, he created New West for Aramis in 1988 — reportedly by adding Calone to Cristalle de Chanel — and also composed Lancôme's Magie Noire. Since 2001 he has devoted much of his time to preserving olfactory heritage and teaching at the Osmothèque and ISIPCA.
