Chanel released Allure Homme Sport in 2004 as a flanker to the original Allure Homme, but Jacques Polge's composition so thoroughly reinvented its predecessor that the word flanker barely applies. Where Allure Homme was warm, spicy, and oriented toward evening wear, Sport stripped the formula to its dynamic essentials: crisp aldehydes, a sharp citrus opening, and a dry, peppery freshness that evoked physical exertion without the cliché of aquatic coolness.
