The Story

Launched in 1935 by Lancôme, Conquête is one of the brand's earliest creations and was crafted by Armand Petitjean himself. The fragrance balances bright citrus notes with a warm woody base, anchored by leather and musk. Neroli and lemon provide an uplifting start, while Bulgarian rose, jasmine, and iris bring a soft floral heart. The earthy patchouli and oakmoss add depth, creating a scent that is both modern and lasting.

Application Tips

One or two sprays are enough — the citrus opening is bright but fades within a couple hours, allowing the warm woody base to emerge. This fragrance reads better close to skin than across a room.

Armand Petitjean · Portrait

Armand Petitjean, born May 20, 1884, into a family of distillers, was initiated into perfumery by François Coty, for whom he worked before founding Lancôme with Guillaume d'Ornano in 1935, presenting five inaugural fragrances at that year's Brussels Universal Expo. Passionate about roses, he made the flower Lancôme's signature ingredient from 1935, later launching Magie and Trésor in the early 1950s. Lancôme joined L'Oréal in 1964, and Petitjean died in 1969.
