Top notes are Freesia, African Orange Flower, Bergamot and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Jasmine, Clove, Heliotrope, Ylang-Ylang, Lily-of-the-Valley and Rose; base notes are Vanille, Sandalwood, Amber, oak moss, Musk, Orris Root and Benzoin. Perfumer Richard Herpin created Essentially Jaguar in 1998. The fragrance is fresh, flowery and citrusy, laid on an intensive chypre and oriental base. Top notes: orange blossom, bergamot, mandarin and freesia. Heart: ylang-ylang, jasmine, lily of the valley, rose, clove and heliotrope. Base: oakmoss, orris root, sandalwood, amber, musk, vanilla and benzoin.

Richard Herpin was born and raised in Cannes, surrounded by antiques in his father's shop that instilled a strong aesthetic sense, particularly for precious woods. His interest in perfumery grew through his family's connection to master perfumer Pierre Bourdon, who became his mentor during shared smelling sessions. Over more than 25 years he has created for Amouage, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Tom Ford, approaching each fragrance as an emotional moment first sketched, then filled in with detail.
