Jour d'Hermès by Hermès was launched in 2013 as a Floral fragrance for women, created by Jean-Claude Ellena with his signature minimalist approach. This scent opens with bright citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon, paired with watery freshness that evokes the clarity of dawn. The heart is a delicate balance of white flowers, gardenia, and sweet pea, underscored by green notes that give it an impressionistic quality rather than a literal floral bouquet. It has been widely praised for its radiant transparency, showcasing Ellena's ability to subvert traditional expectations of what a 'big house' floral should smell like.

Application Tips
One or two sprays are enough to capture Jour d'Hermès's delicate balance. The citrus and watery notes fade within an hour, so reapply if you want the scent to last through the day. It’s best worn close to skin for a personal touch rather than projecting into space.

Founding perfumer · 104 fragrances · French

As a disciple and close friend of the legendary Edmond Roudnitska (creator of “Le Parfum de Thérèse”), Jean-Claude Ellena began his career with a minimalistic approach to perfumery. Since then, he has developed this approach into his own distinctive style, which is continually informed by his elegant and quiet way of being, and has been compared by his contemporaries to watercolor sketches and chamber music. Jean-Claude says that a perfume must be like “a soft caress; nothing must shock, nothing must shout”.Jean-Claude Ellena was born in Grasse into a family of perfumers. His training began at age 17, in the most prestigious laboratories – in Grasse, Paris, New York and Geneva – where he always saw himself as self-taught. Roudnitska’s minimalism never left him, however, and his compositions remain focused around a single ingredient, avoiding repetition.
