The story behind the bottle.

Scentsation editorial

Launched in 2007 by Lalique, Commedia was crafted by perfumers Béatrice Piquet and Max Gavarry. This floral fragrance opens with a vibrant mix of pear and blackberry, creating an immediate sense of freshness and playfulness. The heart is anchored by rose and jasmine, which merge seamlessly into the powdery base notes of iris, sandalwood, and white musk. Commedia captures the essence of Lalique’s French heritage, combining classic floral elements with a touch of warmth and sweetness.

How to wear it

Apply Commedia with two light sprays for a balanced effect. The fruity top notes are bright but fleeting, so allow time for the floral heart to emerge before stepping out. This fragrance pairs well with layered clothing, as its warmth becomes more pronounced close to skin.

Béatrice Piquet

A career built on apprenticeship and humility

Béatrice Piquet (1963–2010) was a French perfumer who joined International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) at seventeen, rising from laboratory assistant to senior perfumer over a six-year apprenticeship under JP Mary and Alain Astori.

“I hope I never find it because it would suggest that everything is at an end.”
