Launched in 1976 by Penhaligon's, Lily of the Valley was crafted by Michael Pickthall and stands as a proof of the brand’s longstanding tradition of elegant craftsmanship. This fragrance opens with a fresh and vibrant burst of Amalfi lemon and bergamot, which playfully interacts with the bright green notes of geranium before giving way to the delicate heart of lily-of-the-valley, ylang-ylang, jasmine, and rose. Michael Pickthall was a senior perfumer at IFF before he and his brother Terence left to found Contemporary Perfumers Ltd (CPL) in 1971, which grew into the largest privately owned fragrance house in the UK. He created four fragrances for Penhaligon's: Lily of the Valley (1976), Bluebell (1978), Elisabethan Rose (1984), and Douro (2004).
