Launched in 1919 by Jacques Guerlain, Mitsouko Eau de Toilette is the pioneering fragrance that introduced the fruity chypre genre to perfumery. It was a daring move at the time, combining the classic mossy and woody base of a traditional chypre with an innovative synthetic note — gamma-undecalactone, which gave it its signature peach facet. This blend softened the austere edges of the chypre framework, making Mitsouko both lasting and revolutionary. The name 'Mitsouko' itself is drawn from Claude Farrère's novel La Bataille, evoking a sense of romantic intrigue.
