Roger Pellegrino was a defining perfumer of the 1980s and '90s, collaborating with Cacharel, Giorgio Armani, Rochas, Ted Lapidus, and Van Cleef & Arpels on fragrances including Armani Eau pour Homme and Nocturne de Caron. His name is inseparable from Anaïs Anaïs, which he helped finish alongside Raymond Chaillan — after eighteen months struggling to complete the composition, it was Pellegrino's idea to add brighter notes of blackcurrant that brought the fragrance together.
