Launched in 1949 by Caron, Or et Noir is a fragrance that embodies the elegance and refinement for which the French brand is renowned. Created by Michel Morsetti, this composition opens with an array of roses — Bulgarian Rose, Taif Rose, and simple Rose notes — interwoven with geranium and carnation to create a floral bouquet that is both fresh and spicy. The heart introduces lily, adding depth and warmth, while the base layers in oakmoss, amber, and woody notes for an earthy, sensual finish.

Michel Morsetti was assistant to Ernest Daltroff, founder of the House of Caron, helping build the house from its early-1900s beginnings alongside Raoul Daltroff and creative director Félicie Wanpouille. He went on to become a celebrated perfumer in his own right, creating Or et Noir (1949) in homage to Daltroff, and both Poivre and Coup de Fouet (1954).
