It is like a high heel: you may not wear it every day, but it is always charming. On Sunday Times, on November 2009, when Patchouli Nobile was launched, Luca Turin, the most accreditated critic in the perfumed world, defined it as “one among the 10 fragrances most interesting at the moment”. How can we disagree? It has a citrusy-spiced opening with bergamot, Sicilian tangerine, néroli, cardamom; then it starts a an emotional boundless journey which returns us to our origins, communion with nature, evoked by the flowery heart of geranium, orange blossom and myrrh, and to listening to our primordial instinct, recalled by a hint of amber, labdanum, tonka bean, patchouly, with a final of leather and sandalwood” — press release of the brand.

A Signature Fragrance

Patchouli
Patchouli emanates from the leaves of Pogostemon cablin, a bush native to Southeast Asia. Its scent is deeply woody with hints of musty earth, warm spices, and a subtle sweetness that can be both comforting and complex. This versatile note has been a staple in perfumery for decades, often used to evoke feelings of nostalgia and grounding.

Amber
Amber is an olfactory illusion, conjured from labdanum, benzoin, vanilla, and other resins to evoke the sun-soaked warmth of the Mediterranean coast. Its scent is both earthy and sweet, with a powdery undertone that mimics the richness of ancient incense.

Labdanum
Harvested from the sticky secretions of rockrose shrubs, labdanum exudes an intense aroma that is both animalic and woody. Its scent can be likened to a blend of ambergris and vanilla, with hints of sweetness and a smoky undertone. This complex profile makes it a versatile ingredient in perfumery.
