Launched in 1995, Poême by Lancôme was created by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and quickly became an iconic fragrance with its rich floral blend. The composition opens with a bright burst of mandarin orange and bergamot before diving into the heart of datura, mimosa, and tuberose, which adds depth and warmth. The base notes of vanilla, amber, and musk create a potent projection that has sparked polarized critical opinions. Some enthusiasts criticize its heavy presence as overpowering ('monstrosity'), while devotees celebrate it as subtle and refined. Its discontinuation in the 2020s stirred significant nostalgia among fragrance lovers.
