Launched in 2015 by Papillon Artisan Perfumes, Salome is a chypre floral creation by Liz Moores that balances musky and woody accords with smoky and white florals. Hyrax and castoreum lend an animalic depth to the composition, which opens with bright citrus notes like bitter orange and bergamot before transitioning into tobacco and carnation. The base of oakmoss, patchouli, and vanilla rounds out a scent that is both earthy and alluring.

Application Tips
Salome's animalic notes are best experienced close to skin rather than across a room. Apply two sprays initially; the citrus top notes will fade within an hour but the base notes will continue to develop throughout the day.

Liz Moores, a mother of five who grew up in a quintessentially British village, worked in remedial and therapeutic massage using essential oils before entering perfumery with no chemistry background, training in a five-day course with the late Alec Lawless. In 2011 she founded Papillon Perfumery, based in the forested outskirts of London, as a self-trained perfumer.
