Launched in 1989, Samsara Eau de Parfum by Guerlain was the result of an unusual creative process: Jean-Paul Guerlain competed against outside perfumers for his own brand. The winning composition blends powdery iris and violet with warm amber and vanilla, creating a rich blend that is both classic and innovative. Originally formulated with up to 30% natural Mysore sandalwood, the fragrance's early editions are legendary among enthusiasts, fueling ongoing debate about how modern reformulations using synthetic alternatives have altered its character.
