Launched in 2005 and created by perfumers Clement Gavarry and Laurent Le Guernec, Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker is distinguished from typical celebrity fragrances by the actress's unusually hands-on creative involvement. This Floral Woody Musk composition opens with a bright citrus-aromatic accord of lavender, bergamot, and mandarin orange, leading into a heart of palisander rosewood, orchid, and narcissus that adds warmth and complexity. The base notes of patchouli, musk, woods, cedar, and white amber create a powdery yet earthy backdrop. Critics Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez have praised Lovely for its sophistication, comparing it to Chanel in quality, setting it apart from the usual celebrity scent offerings.
Lovely's top notes are vibrant and fleeting, so layering it with the base notes can create a more nuanced experience. Apply two sprays to ensure that the powdery musk and woody heart have enough time to develop throughout the day.
