Shalimar Eau de Cologne, crafted by Jacques Guerlain and launched in 1925, is an Oriental Spicy fragrance that embodies the opulence of its era. The composition opens with bright citrus notes — bergamot, lemon, and mandarin orange — which give way to a rich blend of woods, florals, and spices. Cedar, vetiver, patchouli, jasmine, and rose create a heart that is both lush and intricate, while the base of vanilla, leather, incense, opoponax, benzoin, sandalwood, Peru balsam, civet, and musk adds depth and warmth. This fragrance is a proof of Guerlain's commitment to using luxurious materials and innovative techniques.

Application Tips
Apply this fragrance lightly — its rich base notes take time to bloom and can become overwhelming if used too generously. It pairs particularly well with cooler weather when the warmth of vanilla and leather feels especially comforting.

“When I created Shalimar, I was thinking of the great love stories — of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.”
Jacques Guerlain is one of the greatest perfumers who ever lived — the man who gave the world Shalimar, Mitsouko, L'Heure Bleue, and Vol de Nuit. As the third-generation perfumer of the House of Guerlain, he elevated the family craft into high art. Working in the legendary Guerlain laboratory on the Champs-Élysées, he drew inspiration from love, literature, and travel to create fragrances of unprecedented emotional depth. Shalimar, inspired by the gardens of the Taj Mahal and his love affair with a woman whose identity remains mysterious, is perhaps the most celebrated perfume in history.
