The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2023 by Sol de Janeiro, When in Rio is a fragrance that captures the essence of Brazilian luxury and warmth. Created by perfumer Gino Percontino, it opens with pear and bergamot for a fresh, fruity burst, before diving into the heart of jasmine and vanilla, which blend seamlessly to create an inviting, powdery aroma. The base notes of amber and sandalwood add depth and a touch of woody warmth that lingers softly throughout the day.
One or two sprays is enough to capture the essence of this fragrance. The pear and bergamot top notes are bright but fleeting, so focus on the heart and base for a lasting warmth. This scent reads best in cooler environments where its powdery and woody tones can truly shine.

Gino Percontino
Gino Percontino, who earned a Bachelor of Science from Saint Peter's University, held fragrance roles at Robertet, Drom, and Fragrance Resources before joining MANE, where he works as a Senior Perfumer based in the New York City area and has represented the company at The Fragrance Foundation's Artistry of Fragrance panel.
