The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1995, Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger is a fragrance that encapsulates the essence of 'The Real American Fragrance.' Created by perfumers Annie Buzantian and Alberto Morillas, it was designed to evoke specific regions of America: Florida grapefruit, Midwestern spearmint, Cape Cod cranberry, and Atlantic driftwood. This composition opens with a burst of mint, bergamot, and grapefruit, creating a fresh, vibrant aroma that transitions into the heart notes of lavender and granny smith apple. The base notes of rose, cotton flower, cactus, and amber provide warmth and depth, rounding out the scent's character.
Tommy became one of the best-selling fragrances in America following its launch, cementing its place in 1990s youth culture. It was embraced by hip-hop and R&B figures like Snoop Dogg and Aaliyah, making it a defining scent of that era.
One to two sprays are enough to capture its vibrant freshness. The citrus top notes linger for about an hour before giving way to the warmer base notes. Best suited for daytime wear when you want a bright, energetic presence.
