Tomato in the opening is the kind of note that either makes or breaks a composition, and here it works — green, faintly vegetal, cutting against the neroli and mandarin before the lavender arrives to smooth things over. That tension between something almost savory and the powdery violet-suede base is the whole point: it keeps what could have been a straightforward violet leather from turning soft too soon. Dahlia and jasmine fill out the middle without pushing the fragrance toward sweetness, and the suede base lands dry rather than plush, closer to a worn glove than a powder puff.

Suede
Suede is the velvety underbelly of leather, softened to a whisper. Its scent is powdery and slightly animalic, evoking images of luxury and comfort. While traditionally derived from tanned skins, modern perfumery often employs synthetic versions that capture its essence without the need for animal products.
Violet
Violet’s scent is a complex blend of sweetness and earthiness, reminiscent of fresh petals with undertones of damp soil. Derived from both natural and synthetic sources, it captures the essence of spring gardens and old-world elegance, evoking memories of vintage perfumery and modern sophistication.
Patchouli
Patchouli emanates from the leaves of Pogostemon cablin, a bush native to Southeast Asia. Its scent is deeply woody with hints of musty earth, warm spices, and a subtle sweetness that can be both comforting and complex. This versatile note has been a staple in perfumery for decades, often used to evoke feelings of nostalgia and grounding.
Application Tips
The tomato-citrus opening is sharp but short-lived, so reapply if you need that vegetal edge to last past the first hour. The violet-suede base is soft rather than loud, so it reads best close to the skin instead of across a room.

Julie Massé is a perfumer born in Tokyo who moved to France at five, with a father's family rooted in Grasse and trained at the Roure perfumery school. She studied chemistry and perfumery at ISIPCA before apprenticing as a quality controller at Fragrance Resources in Grasse, where mentor Pierre Bourdon taught her the traditional Jean Carles method. She later worked at Mane alongside Christine Nagel and Cécile Matton on fragrances for Giorgio Armani and Yves Saint Laurent, before being recruited in 2012 by Shay & Blue founder Dom De Vetta to create the brand's six inaugural fragrances, and remains its in-house perfumer. Her creations include Giorgio Armani's Sì Passione and Sì Fiori.
