Élodie Durande is a French perfumer raised in a village in Normandy who studied chemistry before completing a two-year perfumery course at the University of Montpellier and interning in Grasse.
There she met Master Perfumer François Robert, who became her mentor; she joined Quintessence Fragrances as an intern in 2014, moved into evaluation within six months, trained as a Junior Perfumer under Robert, and earned the title of Perfumer in January 2019. A self-described globetrotter, she perceives scents as textures, shapes, and colors, aiming to transform the ordinary into something transformed.
