Linda Pilkington grew up in Cheshire, England, and spent fourteen years in Brazil running a soya bean farm and an ice-cream business before returning to London.
A friend's request for a quality scented candle led her into perfumery; when that friend, who worked for Chanel, commissioned a candle, orders grew quickly and she founded the niche house Ormonde Jayne in 2000, named for the road she lived on and her middle name. Her fragrances, created with Geza Schoen, are known for unusual ingredients drawn from her travels.
