Marie du Petit Thouars

The Artist

Marie du Petit Thouars began her career as a fashion editor for the London Sunday Times before becoming a fine art fashion photographer in Los Angeles. Growing up in Belgium, where her grandfather was a botanist, she made candles and experimented with scent in her mother's greenhouse; she is descended from Louis Marie Aubert du Petit Thouars, a botanist exiled to Madagascar and Mauritius during the French Revolution who collected over 2000 plant specimens. She launched the fragrance house Maison Louis Marie, named for her ancestor, drawing on this botanical heritage.
