Born in Tunisia, Nejla Barbir moved to France in 1980, earning a PhD in Chemistry at Paris V before training at ISIPCA in Versailles, graduating in 1988. She joined Flora Synth in 1987 under the guidance of Jean-Louis Sieuzac and Dominique Ropion, staying on as senior perfumer through the company's acquisition by Harman & Reimer and transformation into Symrise, until 1999. She has created fine fragrances for Christian Dior, Estée Lauder, and Kiton, and in 2003 founded her own company, PARFUMANIA, combining robotic compounding technology with senior-perfumer creativity.
