Our Story

Clive Christian founded his fragrance house in 1999 after acquiring the Victorian perfume brand Crown Perfumery — established in 1872 and holder of the royal warrant granted by Queen Victoria. No. 1, the house's flagship, was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's most expensive commercially available perfume. Everything about Clive Christian — the hand-cut crystal bottles, the 18-carat gold collars, the rare ingredients — is designed to occupy the extreme end of luxury.

Top notes are Rum, Olibanum, Bitter Orange, Cardamom, Pink Pepper, Ginger, Bergamot and Grapefruit; middle notes are Dried Fruits, White Tobacco, Sandalwood, Saffron, Tuberose, Osmanthus, Jasmine and Orris; base notes are Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Myrrh, Labdanum, Patchouli, Musk, Cedar and Vetiver. "A deep and smokey amber perfume with floral flourishes, inspired by this key design material of the era.
